WHO WE ARE
Sports Leaders of Tomorrow (SLOT) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to developing the next generation of leaders in sports.
We prepare youth and young adults for careers across the sports industry through hands-on education, professional development, mentorship, and access to real-world opportunities—and give student-athletes an additional pathway of development, guidance, and resources for success beyond competition.
SLOT bridges critical gaps—particularly for young people from underserved communities—connecting protégés with industry professionals, professional environments, hands-on experiences, and career pathways that can turn passion into profession.

Digital Media
Content creation, storytelling, and personal branding across sports media. Develop hands-on skills in content creation, storytelling, personal branding, and digital media while learning how to apply them with athletes, teams, leagues, and agencies—and explore career opportunities across the sports media industry.

Athlete Management
The business behind the athlete — management, brand, representation. Learn the business behind the athlete by gaining hands-on experience managing an athlete’s day-to-day needs, personal brand, opportunities, and off-field career while exploring careers in athlete management and representation.

Fashion in Sports
Creativity and fashion meet sports: styling, branding, athlete image. Learn how to combine creativity and fashion with sports by developing skills in styling, branding, and athlete image while exploring career opportunities with athletes, teams, brands, and sports organizations.

Student-Athlete Development
Performance, development, and success on and off the field. Develop the knowledge and practical skills to help student-athletes improve their performance, navigate their development, and prepare for success on and off the field while exploring careers in coaching, training, and athlete development.

OUR IMPACT
SLOT creates pathways to opportunity for youth and young adults from 5th grade through college graduation—with a particular commitment to those from underserved communities who may lack access to professional networks, career training, mentorship, and resources.
The result is a stronger pipeline of prepared, connected, and confident young people equipped to become the next generation of athletes, professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and leaders in sports.
Through education, workforce development, mentoring, and networking, SLOT seeks to create a more accessible sports industry—where the next generation is prepared not only to enter the industry, but to lead it.
OUR LEADERSHIP
Sports Leaders of Tomorrow is led by Pat Mathews, a seasoned sports executive with more than 25 years of experience across professional sports, athlete management, business operations, education, and youth development.
His experience, relationships, and commitment to mentorship provide the foundation for SLOT’s mission: creating access, developing talent, and preparing the next generation of sports professionals and leaders.

SLOT is supported by a powerful network of sports-industry leaders who volunteer their time, expertise, and experience to help shape the programs that prepare our protégés for the real-world sports workforce. Our Advisory Board and professional network includes senior executives, general managers, department heads, head athletic trainers, content and media leaders, athlete-development professionals, current and former professional athletes, and other decision-makers from across professional and collegiate sports. These leaders bring firsthand knowledge of what it takes to succeed inside today’s sports organizations. Their insight keeps SLOT’s curriculum, hands-on experiences, and professional development relevant to the evolving needs of the industry—bridging the gap between education and employment.

SLOT partners with individuals, educational institutions, community organizations, sports organizations, corporations, and existing programs that share our commitment to preparing the next generation for careers in sports. Partners don’t have to build something new. SLOT can collaborate with organizations that already provide strong education and training but need greater access to the sports industry.
